Pack 1 Pick 1
There are a couple of choices in this pack. If you really want to draft white or blue I think an argument could be made for taking Steel first pick. A first pick steel allows you to prioritize u/w hybrid creatures and really take advantage of the aura. Puca's Mischief is a pet card for some people, and taking it first similarly allows you to draft a deck to take advantage of it, mostly by picking cards like Torpor Dust, Curse of Chains and Recumbent Bliss. Puca's Mischief turns all of these cards into 2 for 1's by neutralizing a creature and trading for one of your opponent's other creatures. Finally there is the Ram-Gang, which I think is the strongest card in the pack. It's colors are somewhat restrictive and in 8-4s red tends to be picked pretty clean, but green is usually underdrafted, so I took the Ram-Gang and hoped to pick up lots of Spriggans and Safehold Elites.
Pick :Boggart Ram-Gang
Pack 1 Pick 2
This was not a very difficult pick. Fulminator is worth a couple tix, but I didn't want to raredraft it and it isn't a very strong creature. The Duo is one of the best cards you can hope for if I end up in red, and isn't too shabby in monogreen either.
Pick :Tattermunge Duo
Pack 1 Pick 3
There is no reason for me to take the Somnomancer here, because Crabapple Cohort is at least as strong and in my colors, so this was another easy pick.
Pick :Crabapple Cohort
Pack 1 Pick 4
This is the point at which I might have made a mistake. I saw 2 strong green cards in the Giantbaiting and Raiders as well as Steel of the Godhead. Steel is probably more powerful than those two cards, but the hybrid auras have been going much later with Eventide in the mix, so I didn't view this as a really strong signal and just picked the card that is strongest in the aggressive red, green, or r/g deck I hoped to draft.
Pick :Giantbaiting
Pack 1 Pick 5
Now passing the Steel looks kind of stupid. Cragtreads is definitely the strongest card in this pack and there is absolutely nothing of value in red or green so I take the u/w guy, even though I know I probably can't play it after passing all that good stuff.
Pick :Barrenton Cragtreads
Pack 1 Pick 6
Somnomancer is definitely the best card in this pack, but I foolishly told myself that Foxfire Oak was playable, probably because I already felt committed to r/g.
Pick :Foxfire Oak
Pack 1 Pick 7
Not much here, but wisps are usually playable.
Pick :Viridescent Wisps
Pack 1 Pick 8
Sootstoke is playable in a red deck, although it looks like that won't be happening for me. If I was in u/w I would be very happy with the fate transfer right now.
Pick :Sootstoke Kindler
Pack 1 Pick 9
Pick :Gleeful Sabotage
Pack 1 Pick 10
Pick :Foxfire Oak
Pack 1 Pick 11
Pick :Crimson Wisps
Pack 1 Pick 12
Pick :Nurturer Initiate
Pack 1 Pick 13
Pick :Thornwatch Scarecrow
Pack 1 Pick 14
Pick :Crimson Wisps
Pack 1 Pick 15
Pick :Spell Syphon
Pack 2 Pick 1
This is the second draft in a row I've opened a Banshee in the second pack, which is obviously extremely frustrating. You also might notice that there really isn't anything amazing in green or red, so I take the Banshee and consider going g/b.
Pick :Midnight Banshee
Pack 2 Pick 2
I dithered for a minute between Tower Above and Rosheen, but after playing with it in the draft I am convinced Tower Above was the right pick.
Pick :Tower Above
Pack 2 Pick 3
Again, nothing for me, so I take Corrupt to potentially go with the Banshee.
Pick :Corrupt
Pack 2 Pick 4
Wild Slayer elves is a good card and all my other five drops will definitely be better than Ghastbark.
Pick :Wildslayer Elves
Pack 2 Pick 5
I'm not sure what the Puncture Bolt is doing there, but it will make someone very happy. I sigh and take the Duo.
Pick :Safehold Duo
Pack 2 Pick 6
Excellent. Spriggan is amazing, although my deck isn't as aggressive as I would have liked.
Pick :Hungry Spriggan
Pack 2 Pick 7
If I was u/w I would be slamming the Briarberry Cohort, but I'm not and I take the Manamorphose, telling myself it might yet help cast a Banshee.
Pick :Manamorphose
Pack 2 Pick 8
I have no two drops and Medicine Runner fills that void pretty handily.
Pick :Medicine Runner
Pack 2 Pick 9
Who knows, I might have to play the Hexhunter.
Pick :Elvish Hexhunter
Pack 2 Pick 10
Why am I not u/w? That Consign To Dream seems really late.
Pick :Scuzzback Scrapper
Pack 2 Pick 11
Pick :Cinderhaze Wretch
Pack 2 Pick 12
Pick :Advice from the Fae
Pack 2 Pick 13
Pick :Umbral Mantle
Pack 2 Pick 14
Pick :Cerulean Wisps
Pack 2 Pick 15
Pick :Rite of Consumption
Pack 3 Pick 1
Once again if I was u/w I would have a really easy pick, but there is nothing at all for my increasingly monogreen deck. I raredraft.
Pick :Stigma Lasher
Pack 3 Pick 2
That is lucky. Black gets kicked to the curb and I take my own personal Howling Mine.
Pick :Overbeing of Myth
Pack 3 Pick 3
Perhaps I should have taken the Conception, but I was really concerned about two drops.
Pick :Woodlurker Mimic
Pack 3 Pick 4
Nettle Sentinel would, of course, be very good in my deck.
Pick :Nettle Sentinel
Pack 3 Pick 5
I couldn't decide between Hag and Trow, but my deck really didn't seem aggressive enough to justify taking the Trow over the card advantage of the Hag.
Pick :Desecrator Hag
Pack 3 Pick 6
I took a look at my deck and realized I had approximately zero ways of taking advantage of the Quillspike, although, tragically, Aerie Ouphes is excellent with the Quill Spike.
Pick :Aerie Ouphes
Pack 3 Pick 7
Pick :Shorecrasher Mimic
Pack 3 Pick 8
Pick :Gift of the Deity
Pack 3 Pick 9
Pick :Duergar Cave-Guard
Pack 3 Pick 10
I still need two drops and just don't have enough b/g creatures to use the Gifts on.
Pick :Fang Skulkin
Pack 3 Pick 11
Pick :Trapjaw Kelpie
Pack 3 Pick 12
Pick :Monstrify
Pack 3 Pick 13
Pick :Grazing Kelpie
Pack 3 Pick 14
Pick :Slippery Bogle
Pack 3 Pick 15
Pick :Jawbone Skulkin
I ended up winning the first round against a monowhite deck, mostly because of the Overbeing drawing me like a lot of cards, although I lost one game because my deck has no way to even kill a Mistmeadow Skulk.
I lost 2-1 in the second round, first game I lost to a Call the Skybreaker. In the second game I won very quickly despite him casting Furystoke Giant and killing two of my creatures, because I had stronger creatures and backbreaking Tower Above on his Furystoke. Third game he had Furystoke again, as well as a Murderous Redcap, and I just couldn't keep up without Overbeing of Myth.
